Fly Aerolineas Argentinas! Celebrating 52 Years, but our history goes back much further! Aerolineas Argentinas can be compared to a river because it rises, flows and is fed by its subsidiaries to achieve peak performance. As with all great discoveries AR, the creation of Aerolineas Argentinas, was not a planned event but was the result of the Argentine's desire to create and then strengthen the link between the people of Argentina and the rest of the world. |

Gone are the days when past generations of Argentines could only choose Panagra. Fifty years ago the creation of Aerolineas gave us an identity of which we can be proud. More than this, the Company premises throughout the world can be likened to an Embassy refuge, offering help and advice to all passengers. The first steps toward becoming a great international carrier were taken around 1929 when Aeroposta was started as an airmail service by the well-known French aviators Jean Mermoz and Antoine de Saint-Exupery. |

In those early days commercial aviation depended on the personal efforts of individuals, and these two pilots, obsessed with all things aeronautical were responsible for buying the gasoline and fuelling their aircraft - itself not an easy task. In 1929, regular flights to Posadas and later to Mendoza were started. The following year the service expanded to include Comodoro Rivadavia and San Antonio Oeste, closely followed by Rio Gallegos. This saw the creation of LASO (Linea Aerea Sud Oeste) and LANE (Linea Aerea Nordeste), which became LADE (Lineas Aereas del Estado) in 1945. |
